MISSION –EMPOWERMENT OF RURAL SPORTS “BETI BACHAO, BETI PADHAO & BETI KHELAO”

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Sports Committee under the aegis of Ms Neelam Pratap Singh Rudy, Chairperson, PHD Sports Committee, commenced its series of MISSION –EMPOWERMENT OF RURAL SPORTS – “BETI BACHAO,BETI PADHAO & BETI KHELAO” programmes from NINDANA VILLAGE, ROHTAK on APRIL 04,2017. The objective of this programme is to provide a thrust to rural sports with a special focus on the empowerment of the Girl Child.

The programme’s main focus was to provide a further impetus to the “Beti Bachao,Beti Padhao & Beti Khelao” abhiyan of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India-Shri Narendra Modiji and also included donation of Sports Equipment for the use and training of the Girl Sports enthusiasts in Nindana Village.

The gathering was graced by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways, Dr.Suresh Prabhu, Mrs Uma Prabhu, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Manoj Grover, Agriculture Minister of Haryana, Ms Neelam Pratap Singh Rudy, Chairperson, PHD Sports Committee, Mr Sandeep Aggarwal, Chairman, PHD Railways Committee, Mr G.S. Bal, Dean-Welfare, Amity University, Mr Yogesh Srivastav, Director, PHD Chamber, all the Sarpanch’s of Haryana and other eminent dignitaries of the state.

The Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhu appreciated PHD Chamber’s effort in furthering interest of Girls in sports from the grass roots level and providing them with the necessary sports equipment for their training. He shared that he was closely connected with Nindana Village and feels responsible for its overall development also, as this village has been adopted by him under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna (SAGY) started by the Government of India.

Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana also commended PHD Chamber’s donation of Sports Kits and cash award to the Winning Girls Sports team which will further encourage more Girls from Nindana Village and Haryana to take up sports as a career option. He also assured of his governments full support in providing the necessary impetus to the upliftment of the Girl Child in Sports in the Sate of Haryana.

Ms Neelam Pratap Singh Rudy, Chairperson, PHD Sports Committee in her address shared the objective of the programme and donation of sports kits was to create a further interest of the girls in sports and also provide them with the basic necessary sports equipments to practice and also propagate the Government’s Beti Bachao,Beti Padhao & Beti Khelao” abhiyan. Ms Rudy shared that Haryana has been home to many outstanding women athletes and the recent outstanding wins of our athletes from Haryana like Ms. Sakshi Malik -Indian freestyle wrestler, the Phogat sisters -freestyle wrestlers and many more, on the international arena are further providing an inspiration to other Girl Sports Enthusiasts from Nindana Village to take up sports as a career and excel in it.

Ms Rudy along with Mr Sandeep Aggarwal, Chairman, PHD Railways Committee and Mr G.S. Bal, Dean-Welfare, Amity University donated Sports Equipment worth Rs 1.00 lakh (sponsored by Amity University) and a cash prize of Rs 51 Thousand (sponsored by Paramount Cables) to the winning girls team at Nindana Village.

The sports equipment kits donated were an amalgamation of various sports – Volleyball; Basketball; Badminton; Football; Cricket & Hockey, catering to the major sports being played on the national & international level.

The programme was well-attended by all the villagers and students and proved to be a big success.
