More than 75% of recent fatalities in Delhi were unvaccinated: Health Minister

New Delhi, January 14: Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Friday said that Delhi is likely to record less than 25,000 cases today.

He also added that more than 75% of COVID-19 patients who died were not vaccinated.

“Delhi reported 28,867 COVID cases yesterday. Today, the national capital is expected to record less than 25,000 cases. 75% of the COVID patients who died in the recent past were unvaccinated,” quoted Health Minister Satyendra Jain

Talking about the recent spike of fatalities in the Capital, Jain said, ”Over 75 percent of patients who died due to COVID-19 were unvaccinated and over 90 per cent of deaths are those who had comorbid conditions. Even seven teenagers who died of COVID-19 were suffering from severe chronic disease.“

He further added, “The hospital admissions in the city have become stagnant, which is a good sign. The positivity rate keeps on changing, but the main factor is hospital admissions.”

He said that more than 13000 beds (88%) are available.

Delhi recorded 28,867 fresh cases on Thursday, which was the highest single-day spike since the beginning of the pandemic & 31 Deaths. The positivity rate in the capital reached 29.21%
