MP PRAVESH VERMA DEMANDS SLUM REHABILITATION POLICY IN THE MEETING OF THE PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE OF CENTRAL URBAN DEVELOPMENT MINISTRY

New Delhi, 31st March.  West Delhi MP Shri Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma demanded framing of slum rehabilitation policy for Delhi in the meeting of Parliamentary Committee of Urban Development Ministry today. He informed the committee that thousands of houses are lying vacant built for the slum dwellers but Delhi Government is not making allotment.

Specially raising the issue of the murder of Pankaj Narang in Vikaspuri, Shri Pravesh Verma said that there have been incidents of confrontation between the residents of the colony and the slum dwellers earlier also.  It has often been found that slum clusters become centres of drug trafficking or gambling. The accused of the murder of Dr. Pankaj Narang was resident of Slum Cluster, Indira Camp which is notorious even in the police records for such incidents. Local residents are of the view that many anti social elements live in this camp and they indulge in illegal activities.

Officers of the Urban Development Ministry of Delhi Government, DDA and MCD were present in the meeting and these senior officers assured Shri Pravesh Verma that appropriate action will be taken in Indira Camp case.
