New Delhi, 7th July 2023: On July 5, the brand new social media app, Threads, a text-based conversation tool to rival Twitter, went live. It only took the YouTuber, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, a few hours to gather a Million followers on the platform.

On July 6, he surpassed the milestone at 2:42 p.m. (BST) / 9:42 a.m. (EST) as reported by Guinness World Records.

MrBeast tweeted to express his delight at his record-breaking achievement. He said, “Shhhhh, don’t let the twitter police know I’m cheating on them.”

While his was not the first account to reach the milestone, the others belonged to organisations such as Instagram and National Geographic.

MrBeast’s Threads bio states, “Future Threads CEO,” and he has a million followers after only three posts.

“Soooooo, how long until we’re also addicted to this app?” he wrote in his first post, just after the app went live. Lol”.

He also asked his followers to like a post whether they felt Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg should be appointed CEO of the app.

MrBeast also made a cheeky remark, saying, “I feel like I’m cheating on Twitter by using this app.”

Threads was marketed as a “friendly” alternative to Twitter, which has hit some snags since being taken over by SpaceX entrepreneur Elon Musk.

In a post, Zuckerberg, who was the second person to reach 1 million Threads followers, wrote, “The goal is to keep it friendly as it expands. I think it’s possible and will ultimately be the key to its success.

MrBeast, who is credited with inventing a genre of YouTube videos centred on costly stunts and challenges, has a massive following across all of his social media outlets.

He has 38.5 million Instagram followers and 165 million YouTube subscribers.
