Much-needed Relief as Heavy Rainfall Eases Delhi’s Sweltering Heat

New Delhi, August 19, 2023: A welcome respite from scorching temperatures arrived in parts of Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram today as heavy rainfall drenched the region. The downpour, though offering relief, also resulted in waterlogging in multiple areas of the national capital, affecting daily life.

After enduring a prolonged period of sweltering and humid conditions, the rainfall brought a sense of relief to residents. In some localities, like Dwarka, vehicles navigated through waterlogged streets, emphasizing the immediate impact of the heavy rain.

Social media platforms were flooded with videos showcasing the waterlogged conditions in the Badarpur area of Delhi, highlighting the challenges posed by the sudden deluge.

According to the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC), the weather scenario is expected to include more rain throughout the day. The forecast indicates a “generally cloudy sky with light rain or thunderstorms.” The maximum temperature is projected to reach around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is anticipated to be approximately 27 degrees Celsius.

The much-awaited rain brought a sense of relief to the residents, who had been enduring the heatwave-like conditions for an extended period. The substantial showers come as a welcome change, potentially alleviating concerns related to water scarcity and offering a temporary reprieve from the heatwave’s discomfort.
