Mumbai beaches now have 120 guards deployed at all times

Mumbai, 15th June 2023: The Mumbai municipal corporation announced that it has chosen to deploy 120 trained security guards to prominent beaches and seafronts, only days after three boys drowned in the Arabian Sea off the city’s shore.

Security guards will be on duty at these important tourist and local tourist destinations from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., according to a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) release.

According to the statement, these 120 trained security guards would be stationed at Girgaon and Dadar beaches in the island city and Juhu, Versova, Aksa, and Gorai beaches in the western suburbs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., respectively.

Following the recent Juhu Koliwada drowning tragedy, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) decided to deploy 120 trained security guards on Mumbai’s Chowpatties from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Five boys aged 12 to 15 waded into the choppy surf at Juhu Koliwada in Mumbai’s western suburbs on Monday. Three drowned, local fishermen rescued one, and another is still missing.
