Mumbai 29th March 2021: As the temperature is rising due to change in climate in the Konkan region of Ratnagiri, Rajapur and Devgad, it is affecting the crop of the king of fruits the Alphonso or hapus mango. Being a delicate fruit, it needs to be transported in regulated temperatures, thus to ensure hapus is reaching consumers in a good condition, MyKo – India’s first mangotech platform which has brought together 100 farmers from Konkan region, have launched their reefer van service for door to door mango delivery in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. Anil Parab, Minister of Transport and Parliamentary Affairs in Maharashtra State inaugurated the specially designed vans which will supply the fruit to the consumers. Also present at the event, Sanjay Yadavrao Advisory MyKo and founder Global Konkan Pratisthan, Kishore Dharia Convener Global Konkan, Rajashree Yadavrao, Supriya Marathe and Sukanya Raorane Directors of MyKo were present at the event.

“Using reefer vans to deliver Hapus mangoes is a much needed boost in ensuring good quality mango reaches the mango lovers. This initiative by MyKo is a step in the right direction to bring the authentic hapus to the city markets and to the consumers” shared Shri Anil Parab Minister of Transport and Parliamentary Affairs in Maharashtra State.

Supriya Marathe Co-Founder MyKo added, “Hapus mango is a delicate fruit and has to be treated with proper care even while in transit. With the introduction of Myko reefer vans, we aim to give the best alphonso to our consumers by maintaining the apt conditions to preserve its true taste. This will also ensure damage prevention from the extreme temperatures and help the farmers to send their produce in a controlled environment. Currently we are launching 3 such vans in the 1st phase which will cater to Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai and more of them will be added in later phases.

Sanjay Yadavrao Advisor MyKo and Founder Konkan Bhumi Pratisthan said, “We have been fighting hard to make sure the konkan mango farmers get the right values for their hard work. MyKo has been striving hard to create an organaised market place for the Konkan farmer locally as well as opening newer global markets like London and Europe. Last year, we had started the new system of mango supply last year which had benefited both farmers and consumers where we bypassed selling in the large APMC markets and reached out to housing societies for direct selling and this year with the introduction of the MyKo reefer van we are poised to reach out to a wider consumer base in the country”.

MyKo also has started exports of the authentic GI tagged Alphonso mangoes to London, Holland and other European countries. They aim to export 1lac doz mangoes this mango season thus creating a direct market for the mango cultivators from Konkan.
