New Delhi, Dec 23: Najeeb Jung’s resignation as the 20th Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi is still to be accepted, reported India Today TV. Jung had met PM Narendra Modi today at his office. The TV sources have revealed that Jung would continue as the Lieutenant Governor for 10 more days. The Home Ministry has said that LG Najeeb Jung’s resignation has not been accepted yet.

Najeeb Jung had submitted his resignation yesterday. It had been speculated that the reason behind his resignation is his long going tiff with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. The Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal and Najeeb Jung weren’t getting along and since his appointment in July 2013, he (Jung) was involved in a jurisdictional dispute with the Delhi CM. After Najeeb Jung had disbanded Delhi Wakf Board, Arvind Kejriwal had attacked him saying that the decisions taken by the AAP government should not be annulled just because they were not approved by the Lt Governor.
