New Delhi: On Sunday, the nation woke up to very sad news which many had hard time believing. The untimely demise of legendary actress Sridevi Kapoor has shunned the entire nation including Indian film industry, the sports fraternity as well as the political circles. Indian cinema has lost its most versatile, gorgeous, multilingual actress Sridevi on wee hours of late Saturday night.
Sridevi, was in Dubai to attend the marriage function of actress Sonam Kapoor’s cousin Mohit Marwah. She was accompanied by her husband Boney Kapoor and Younger daughter Khushi Kapoor. However with some recent details pouring it, it is being said that Boney had left from Dubai after the wedding festivities got over, whereas SriDevi stayed back to have some leisure time.
As the news went viral, people initially took it as a rumour because it was hard for everyone to believe that she has died due to cardiac arrest at the age of 54 years. But, unfortunately, it was a hard truth, which pushed the entire nation into the verge of shock.

President of India, Ramnath Kovind said, “Shocked to hear of passing of movie star Sridevi. She has left millions of fans heartbroken. Her performances in films such as ‘Moondram Pirai’, ‘Lamhe’ and ‘English Vinglish’ remain an inspiration for other actors. My condolences to her family and close associates,” the President tweeted.
While the Prime Minister Modi also took to Twitter, saying: “Saddened by the untimely demise of noted actor Sridevi. She was a veteran of the film industry, whose long career included diverse roles and memorable performances. My thoughts are with her family and admirers in this hour of grief. May her soul rest in peace.”
Congress President Rahul Gandhi also expressed condolence over the death of the veteran actress saying that she was an incredibly talented and versatile actress.
“Shocked to hear about the sudden death of one of India’s favourite actress, Sridevi. Sridevi was an incredibly talented and versatile actress whose vast body of work spanned a range of genres and languages. My condolences to her family. May her soul rest in peace,” Gandhi tweeted.
Senior leader Amar Singh who also attended the same marriage with her said,
“Jis shaadi (Dubai) mein woh gayin thi, main bhi wahin tha. Doosre din maine ek summit mein jaane ka decision liya. Mujhe dukh hai ki maine yeh decision liya,varna unke saath samay bitaane ka avsar milta.”
Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Unhone apne abhinay se poore desh ko prabhaavit kiya. Woh bahot kam umar mein iss duniya se vida ho gaye. Main unke charnon mein shraddha suman arpit karta hoon”.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, “I was shocked to hear the news of her demise. She played an important role in the field of performing arts. We all have seen her capabilities on the screen. This is a huge loss for the nation. I give my heartfelt condolences to her family.”

Senior actor Annu Kapoor said, “I wanted to accept it as a rumour, but in the end it was a reality. Whereever she is may her soul rest in peace. Our prayers are with her family. Nation mourns, she was a heartthrob for cinema lovers. We will always remember her.”
The dream girl of bollywood Hema Malini said, “Yeh khabar sunke bahot shock laga. Humne kabhi socha bhi nahi tha. Unhone apne talent se kaafi logon ko prabhaavit kiya. She was a wonderful actress & unhone apna sthaan banaya hindi film industry mein. It is a big loss for Bollywood.”
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said, “I still can’t believe it that Sridevi ji is no more, she had done countless legendary roles, its very very sad. Entire nation is shocked”.
Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar said, “I have no words to express how i feel. We have grown up seeing her. It is difficult to digest that she is not with us. My heartiest condolences to her family”.
