National Youth Award 2021–22 Conferred to Young Innovator Akshit Bansal

I am Akshit Bansal, a 12th-grade school student from Delhi, and I am honoured to share that I have recently been conferred the National Youth Award (for the year 2021–22) by the Government of India for my innovations. I humbly request you to consider publishing my inspiring achievement and innovation journey so far through your esteemed platform to reach a wider audience.
The award was presented to me on April 3, 2025, during the National Youth Parliament Ceremony held at Parliament House, New Delhi. The award ceremony was graced by the presence of Union Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, along with the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, the Secretary, and the Joint Secretary of the Ministry, among other dignitaries. On this occasion, I was felicitated with a medal, a certificate, and a cash prize of ₹1,00,000.
This recognition was awarded for my two major innovations — “Bionic Hand” and “TechnoFlora” — both of which are aimed at improving the lives of people from underserved communities.
Bionic Hand is an advanced yet affordable prosthetic hand that uses custom-designed sensors to interpret neural signals from the brain, enabling it to function like a natural human hand. It is intended to empower millions who suffer from upper limb disabilities. This innovation was previously honoured by Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari at a United Nations Convention, and I take pride in sharing that it is currently the most affordable and advanced prosthetic hand in the world.
TechnoFlora is a bio-based agricultural innovation that significantly accelerates crop growth while reducing input costs for farmers. It has the potential to increase crop growth rates by up to 2.5 times, thus contributing to sustainable and high-yield farming.
Both of these projects have been recognized on various national and international platforms. This year, they were awarded Second Place globally by Cisco, and also received recognition under the INSPIRE Awards – MANAK Scheme by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
This award is not just a matter of personal pride but also a source of inspiration to continue developing solutions that serve society. I sincerely hope that my journey reaches and motivates more young innovators through your publication.
