New Delhi, August 16, 2023: In a show of unity, senior leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) gathered at the memorial of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Sadaiv Atal, to commemorate the fifth anniversary of his passing.

President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were among those who paid their respects. Prominent BJP leaders and ministers also attended the event.

Key NDA allies present at Sadaiv Atal included Praful Patel, AIADMK’s M Thambidurai, Jitan Ram Manjhi of Hindustani Awam Morcha, Anupriya Patel of Apna Dal (Sonelal), and Sudesh Mahto of All Jharkhand Students’ Union. Agatha Sangma from the National People’s Party and GK Vasan, the chief of Tamil Maanila Congress, were also in attendance.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur, addressing the gathering, reflected on Vajpayee’s enduring influence, stating, “Atal ji ruled crores of hearts… Several generations were inspired by him…”

He emphasized the strength of the BJP-led NDA alliance under the leadership of PM Modi and projected confidence in the upcoming 2024 elections: “We will contest the election together and make PM Modi win… In 2024, NDA will make a hattrick and bring a wave of development across the country.”

Union Minister Anupriya Patel expressed her certainty of an NDA victory in 2024, asserting that the Opposition’s disarray would prevent their return to power: “People of the country place their full trust in PM Modi’s leadership.”

This marked the first official invitation extended by the BJP to NDA allies for the former Prime Minister’s death anniversary event at Sadaiv Atal. This move carries significance ahead of the upcoming general elections, where the BJP confronts a united opposition INDIA.

As opposition parties form a united front against the BJP, the party is striving to showcase the unity of its NDA partners. Recent meetings and gatherings have aimed to demonstrate the cohesion and diversity within the NDA. The BJP’s efforts reflect its commitment to countering the opposition’s narrative that it does not value allies and cannot sustain long-term partnerships.

The BJP’s focus on NDA unity also addresses claims of conflicting alliances within the INDIA bloc and the opposition’s strategy to gain power. This united front aims to reinforce the BJP’s message that within the NDA, no party is considered big or small.
