New Delhi, 17th Nov 2022: Shikhar Organisation for Social Development organised the 10th National CSR Summit at India International Centre, Maxmuller Marg, New Delhi.
The theme of the summit was “Enablement of Sustainable Cities and Urban Communities Through Corporate Social Responsibility.” During the Award ceremony, Mr. Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Retd IAS and Advisor to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, was the chief guest.
Congratulating the people who had worked together to make the event a successful one , Awasthi spoke about the initiatives taken up by the UP government. He said, “We, the Government of UP, are working very hard to achieve sustainability goals. In fact, UP’s state legislative assembly dedicated an entire day to brainstorm the sustainable goals set by the United Nations and the steps needed to achieve the same.”
Addressing corporate social responsibility, he said, “Having worked closely with the disability sector under Government of India, this sector saw a major influence of CSR of various private companies and other organizations.”
“When the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act came into being, ensuring accessibility was a key element of the Act. In order to achieve sustainability, the weak and downtrodden’s access to a quality life must also be addressed. Bringing disabled individuals into the mainstream is also a crucial aspect of a sustainable world,” he added.
Speaking on the challenges pertaining to mental disability, Mr. Awasthi said that the sector was in need of rapid improvements and experts in the field of mental disabilities need to come together to mitigate the recurring problems.
“For India to become a world power, it is important to empower and strengthen each and every citizen from all walks of life,” Mr. Awasthi said in his speech.
The event was inaugurated by Union MoS Power and Heavy Infustrues Krishn Pal Gurjar .
