‘Neeyat’ trailer out: Vidya Balan all set to enthrall audience in the murder-mystery film

Mumbai, 22nd June 2023: Vidya Balan is ready to return to the big screen with the upcoming murder-mystery film Neeyat, which reunites her with Shakuntala Devi director Anu Menon. The trailer of the movie dropped today and the veteran actress’s fans are excited for her return.

In Neeyat, Balan portrays Mira Rao, a detective who investigates a murder during a billionaire’s party in the Scottish countryside.

When billionaire Ashish Kapoor (Ram Kapoor) is murdered, suspicion falls on his family and friends, many of whom have secrets of their own. Rahul Bose, Shahana Goswami, Prajakta Koli, Neeraj Kabi, Shashank Arora, and others play the suspects.

The trailer suggests a plot comparable to Agatha Christie’s classic mystery novel ‘And Then There Were None’, which has previously been adapted for film and television. But, most importantly, that plot did not revolve around a detective.

Mira Rao, Vidya’s character, arrives to investigate and quickly begins questioning the suspects. She discovers that each of them harboured grudges against Ashish Kapoor and had motives to harm him.

Explaining more about her character Vidya said, “In Neeyat, Mira Rao is not your classic, everyday detective, which is what made it fun for me. Also, not only did I get a chance to sink my teeth into an unusual and quirky character, but I also got to work with a powerful set of co-actors.”

Anu Menon, Priya Venkataraman, Advaita Kala, and Girvani Dhyani wrote the screenplay for Neeyat, which was directed by Kausar Munir. Neeyat will be released in theatres on July 7, followed by a Prime Video release.
