The Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association on Sunday staged a day-long protest in Greater Noida West and flagged off a signature campaign against builders who have been handing over houses without securing completion certificates from the Greater Noida Authority.

About 500 people joined the protests on Sunday and signed up the petition.

“Handing over houses without securing formal completion certificates from the Greater Noida Authority is a violation of the UP Apartment Act. Despite stringent rules, the builders have been handing over apartments on the basis of letters of possession. We have today resolved to take any builder who violates this rule, to court. Buyers too must realize that taking an apartment on the basis of an NOC can have long term ramifications,” Abhishek Kumar, President of NEFOWA said. “The issues of safety, maintenance and construction quality are all compromised when buyers just move into the apartments blindly,” Kumar added.

“We are going to collect more and more signatures in this campaign. We are going to submit the signed petitions with the Greater Noida Authority, the ministry of urban development, the Prime Minister’s Office. The signature campaign is only going to grow from here on,” Indrish Gupta, co-founder of NEFOWA said.
