#Nepali trader stabbed to death in #Khoda
Ghaziabad: A 35-year-old Nepalese trader and his 20-year-old brother were stabbed at Adarsh Nagar in Khoda late on Saturday while resisting a loot attempt. Chhabi Lal succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, while his younger brother Ghanshyam is reportedly stable, police said. Police are examining CCTV footage to ascertain the identity of the attackers and are trying to determine if there was any enmity involved.
“From the footage, we found the attackers had come on a scooter. One of them waited near the vehicle, while the other two tried to loot the duo. The registration number of the vehicle is not visible as the footage is grainy. No arrests have been made so far,” said Khoda SHO Avdesh Kumar Yadav.
The attack took place outside the victims’ house, at around 11.30 pm on Saturday, just as they had reached home after closing their mobile phone store. “When we reached home, we saw two men waiting near the ground floor. They first pounced on me and then tried to snatch a box from Chhabi containing expensive mobile phones and cash. When he resisted, they stabbed him several times,” Ghanshyam told TOI.
When the brothers screamed, the attackers fled leaving the box behind. The injured men were rushed to a private hospital. Chhabi was taken to GTB hospital in Delhi, where he died on Sunday. Local traders staged a demonstration in Khoda on Sunday after news of Chhabi’s death spread.An FIR on the incident was lodged in Khoda police station based on a complaint filed by Ghanshyam. Two unidentified men have been named in the FIR under various sections of IPC, including 302 (murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons).
Police said Chhabi Lal used to live on the third-floor of a rented apartment in Adarsh Nagar along with his brother, wife and three kids. He had been living in Khoda for around 12 years, after leaving his home in Kailali district in Nepal.
