New India represents transformation in power sector: Piyush Goyal, Union Minister

The Ministry of Power under Piyush Goyal signed MOU’s between Kerala, Tripura and other state in regard with the UDAY scheme. The main aim of signed MOU’s was to find a permanent solution to the financial mess that government-owned electricity distribution companies have gotten themselves into.

During the event, a booklet of pictures by Ministry of power was also launched. The booklet highlightes achievements of Ministry of Power and Rural Electrification Corporation Limited.

Talking about the UDAY scheme, minister said that, 23 States and 1Union Territory have so far joined UDAY scheme. Journey of signing UDAY MoUs began with Jharkhand, the latest enterant being Kerala.

He further said that, we are guided by the vision of PM Modi to ensure 24×7 power supply for all citizens of India.
