Noida News (01 October 2026): The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) organised Hindi Utsav 2026 to encourage the wider use of Hindi as the official language and promote its practical application in day-to-day official work. The month-long celebration featured a series of competitions and activities aimed at increasing interest in Hindi among officers and employees.

A key feature of this year’s Hindi Utsav was the enthusiastic participation of non-Hindi speaking staff, who took part in specially designed competitions to improve their understanding and use of the language.

The programme was attended by Prof. Geeta Pandey, Head of the Hindi Department at Shambhu Dayal P.G. College, Ghaziabad, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Pandey emphasised that Hindi should be used as a practical medium of communication rather than being viewed merely as an academic subject.

She encouraged participants to incorporate Hindi into their regular communication and official work. She also highlighted the importance of self-learning, consistent practice and confidence in developing proficiency in any language. Appreciating the participation of non-Hindi speaking employees, she encouraged them to continue practising Hindi and participating in language-related activities.

NIOS Chairman Prof. Akhilesh Mishra also addressed the participants and appreciated their enthusiasm and involvement in the celebrations. He said that language plays an important role in strengthening an individual’s ability to communicate ideas and perform professional responsibilities effectively.

Prof. Mishra stressed that regular practice and confidence are essential for learning and improving proficiency in a language. He congratulated all the participants and appreciated their efforts during the Hindi Utsav.

Six Competitions Organised During Hindi Utsav

As part of the month-long celebration, NIOS organised a total of six competitions. Of these, three were specially conducted for non-Hindi speaking employees. These included Dictation, Sentence Knowledge and Quiz competitions.

External experts were invited to assess the participants and evaluate their performance in the various competitions. The initiative provided employees with an opportunity to learn Hindi in an engaging and interactive manner while building confidence in using the language.

At the concluding programme, Prof. Geeta Pandey presented prizes and certificates to the winners. She congratulated the participants and urged them to remain actively involved in Hindi-related activities in the future.

The event was attended by NIOS Secretary Col. Shakeel Ahmad, Director (Academic) Dr. Rajiv Kumar Singh and Director (Evaluation) Tarkeshwar Nath Giri, along with senior officers and employees of the institute.

The Hindi Utsav 2026 provided a platform for non-Hindi speaking employees to learn, practise and use Hindi in a supportive environment. The initiative also contributed to creating greater interest and confidence among employees in using Hindi for communication and official work at NIOS.
