New Delhi : Delhi court on Monday issued fresh death warrants for the four convicts in the 2012 Delhi gang-rape and murder case and set a new date for their hanging: March 3 at 6am.
Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana issued the fresh warrants against the death-row convicts, Mukesh Kumar Singh, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Kumar Sharma and Akshay Kumar.
Today’s death warrant was issued after the Tihar jail authorities informed the trial court that three of the four convicts — Vinay Sharma, Pawan Gupta, Mukesh Singh and Akshay Singh — have exhausted all legal options and none of them have any correspondence pending at the moment.
After the judgement, Asha Devi, Nirbhaya’s mother said that she is hopeful that justice will be served. Asha Devi said that she is satisfied with the court’s decision. Asha Devi said, “I am not very happy as this is the third time that the death warrant has been issued. We have struggled so much, so I am satisfied that the death warrant has been issued. “
