Soon after Nitish Kumar’s resignation as Bihar’s chief minister, Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav on Monday sent feelers to rival Lalu Prasad that his party was willing to work with the latter’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) to forge out a “secular alliance” to govern Bihar.

This comes in the wake of the resignation of Nitish Kumar as chief minister of Bihar following the drubbing JD(U) received in the Lok Sabha election. JD(U), which had 20 seats in the 15th Lok Sabha, has been reduced to just two after this election. Bihar has 40 Lok Sabha seats.
