New Delhi, (15 May 2025): In a major digital leap for urban mobility, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has officially joined the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), becoming the first metro system in India to offer ticketing across multiple popular consumer apps—like Google Maps, Rapido, Redbus, EaseMyTrip, and more.

This integration, powered by technology provider SequelString AI (SAI), allows commuters to book Delhi Metro tickets without downloading the DMRC app, instead using over 10 everyday apps including Chartr, Tummoc, and even Telegram-based bots. The move marks a watershed moment in building open, interoperable, and commuter-friendly digital infrastructure.

With 6.5 million daily riders, DMRC’s entry into ONDC makes metro access as easy as booking a cab or bus. Whether you’re traveling inter-city from Jaipur to Delhi via Redbus or planning an intra-city commute on Rapido, you can now book your metro ticket along the way—within the same app.

DMRC MD Dr. Vikas Kumar said, “We are integrating metro travel into the digital lives of our commuters. This partnership removes the friction of switching apps and simplifies access.”

ONDC Acting CEO Vibhor Jain added, “DMRC’s onboarding shows how open networks can bring public utilities closer to people by integrating with the apps they already use.”

This initiative isn’t just about digital convenience—it’s about reshaping how public services fit into daily life. With DMRC leading the charge, India’s journey toward open digital mobility has officially picked up speed.
