North Delhi Municipality Mayor accused of accepting Bribe: would #BJP bulge, asks #AAP
16 October 2015, New Delhi
North MCD Mayor Ravindra Gupta has been accused of seeking bribe from a person in connction with a building construction. It is a grave accusation since the person been accused is none other than the elected first person of the MCD.
“The complainant has categorically stated that bribe was demanded from him and the complainant approached the North MCD standing committee member Prithvi Singh and have stated that Mayor Ravindra Singh sought financial favours. The matter has been refferred by the standing committee to the Municipal Commissioner for investigation and framing of charges,” Aam Aadmi Party Delhi Convenor Dilip Pandey said in a press conference here today.
It is a situation which warrants swift action like Aam Aam Party could dare to do. We demand that it BJP stands for probity and transperancy in politics, can they ask its Mayor to leave office till investigations are over in this regard, he added.
“The more important question which people of Delhi want to know is that how can a municipal commissioner do a free and fair investigation against a mayor. Mayor should resign for the sake of free investigation. The case should be handed over to an independent investigative agency,” Pandey said.
Delhi Municipal Corporation have been under the corrupt hands of BJP for the last 13 years. These cases are just a tip of the iceberg. Many more skeletons will fall from the cupboard of BJP if free and fair investigation is done on MCD scams.
Aam Aadmi Party is also observing with concern the peculiar behavior of the Delhi Police which becomes a mute spectator when it comes to allegations of corruption against BJP leaders. Delhi Police should perform its duty and stop being an agent of the BJP government at the centre.
