NREGA Sangharsh Morcha Points Delays In Wage Payment, Calls BJP Anti-Poor

 Delhi: On Friday At Indian Women’s Press Corps in Delhi, NREGA Sangharsh Morcha, Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav Addressed a Press Conference on ‘NREGA’ Delayed wage payments. NREGA is the most comprehensive livelihood security programme enacted in India as an attempt to provide protection to those on the margins of subsrstence in rural India.

 Adressing the Conference Swaraj India leader Yogendra Yadav Said, “The Ministry of Rural Development has been repeatedly claiming that about 85 per cent of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) wage payments have been made on time this year. As pointed out many times in the past as well, this figure is a wilful misrepresentation and an incomplete calculation. The Ministry has taken no action and delays in wages have all but killed the program. A study by independent researchers has calculated the full extent of delays for a sample of wage payments made in the ongoing financial year. The results point to a shocking violation of Hon’ble Court’s orders and a disdain towards implementing the program”.

 Advocate Prashant Bhushan Said, “The one scheme, which is a lifeline for the rural poor, the govt is stomping on and the issues in rural India matter as much for the urban populous. We must always remember that”.

 He Further Said “BJP is an anti-people, anti-farmer government that violates laws, Supreme Court orders and disrespects people”.
