National News (12 September 2026): NTPC Limited has announced the 2026–27 edition of its flagship Electron Quiz, an initiative aimed at encouraging curiosity, analytical thinking and intellectual excellence among engineering and management students across India.
The NTPC Electron Quiz 2026–27 will begin with its first regional round in Lucknow on September 5 and will conclude with the National Finale on October 8, 2026. The competition will be organised across nine regional centres, giving young students from different parts of the country an opportunity to compete on a national platform.
NTPC Electron Quiz 2026–27: Nine cities to host regional rounds
The regional rounds of the quiz will be conducted between September 5 and October 5, 2026, in nine cities. These include Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Raipur, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Noida. Each regional competition will offer cash prizes to the top-performing teams. The winning team will receive ₹60,000, while the runners-up will be awarded ₹40,000. The team finishing third will receive ₹20,000.
Teams that secure fourth, fifth and sixth positions will also be recognised with consolation prizes of ₹8,000 each, making the regional rounds competitive while rewarding strong performances across the leaderboard.
Top teams to qualify for national-level rounds
The selection process will give the best-performing teams a chance to compete at the national level. The top two teams from each of the nine regional rounds will qualify for the three National Semi-Finals. The National Semi-Finals are scheduled to take place on October 7, 2026, at NTPC’s Power Management Institute (PMI). From these semi-finals, the top two teams from each round will progress to the National Finale.
The National Finale will be held on October 8, 2026, at PMI, bringing together the country’s strongest teams for the final battle of knowledge and strategy.
NTPC Electron Quiz national prizes
The stakes will rise considerably at the national stage, with substantial cash prizes for the top-ranked teams.
The national-level winner will receive ₹1 lakh, while the second-placed team will take home ₹60,000. The third-place team will be awarded ₹40,000.
Teams finishing fourth, fifth and sixth will each receive ₹16,000. The remaining 12 teams at the national level will also receive ₹8,000 each, ensuring that a larger number of finalists are rewarded for their performance.
Quiz theme focuses on Business and Management
The theme for the Electron Quiz 2026–27 is “The World of Business & Management.” The competition has been designed specifically for students pursuing engineering and management courses.
Each participating team will consist of two members. Through questions covering business and management-related areas, the quiz is intended to test participants’ awareness, knowledge, decision-making ability and critical-thinking skills. Beyond competition, the initiative seeks to provide students with an opportunity to expand their understanding of the business world while developing the ability to analyse information and respond effectively under pressure.

NTPC has been organising the Electron Quiz since 2004, making it one of the company’s long-running initiatives focused on students and intellectual development. Over the years, the competition has expanded in terms of reach and scale, attracting young participants and providing them with a platform to showcase their knowledge and analytical abilities.
The continued growth of the quiz also reflects NTPC’s broader focus on encouraging learning, innovation and intellectual engagement among the country’s youth.
