Only 40,000 Noida residents get water bill
Less than 40,000 Noida residents receive regular water bills. The rest — some of whom do not have a regular water connection or do not receive bills — pay an aggregate estimate. The loser is the state exchequer. “In the absence of bills, the residents do not know how much they owe to the Authority,” said N P Singh, president of Federation of Noida Residents’ Welfare Associations (FONRWA).
The RWA federation body has demanded that Noida Authority provide a scheme to waive off interests and penalty charges on water bills of residents. “After learning that quite a large number of consumers owe huge amounts on account of water consumption bills, we have written to the Authority chairman to provide an amnesty on the water bill surcharge, to attract regular consumers. This will also help the state government recover losses it has suffered on account of unpaid water bills,” said Singh.
