Over 4.2 lakh people tested for Covid-19 in last 24 hours, 48k test positive

New Delhi [India], July 25, 2020: Revamping the health infrastructure to intensify the fight against Covid-19 virus, the government on Saturday announced that over 4.2 lakh people have been tested in the Covid-19.

“For the first time, a record number of more than 4,20,000 Covid-19 tests conducted in a single day. With 4,20,898 samples tested in last 24 hours, the Tests Per Million (TPM) has increased to 11,485 and cumulative testing to 1,58,49,068,” the Government of India was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day it was reported that the cases of Covid-19 have witnessed a spoke of approximately 49k cases on Friday alone.

The country reported a spike of 48,916 COVID-19 cases and the total count has surged to 13,36,861

Amid all this, the health officials have called it an unprecedented situation and recmommended people to ensure continued usage of mask to protect themselve.

Speaking to media, Dr RK Verma, Add. Director-General of Health Services, Ministry of Health, said, “These are unprecedented times, no one thought that a virus outbreak, of this nature, will occur. Use masks to protect yourself, drink hot water frequently & wash hands rigorously. Don’t overuse sanitizers.”
