Tamil Nadu, Dec 22: P Rama Mohana Rao has been sacked as the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu. Girija Vaidhyanathan has been named the new Secretary of the State, as per TV reports.
Following the allegations of his links with sand mining baron Babu Sekar Reddy, Income Tax department had conducted raids at his residence. Yesterday, the IT officials claimed to have recovered nearly Rs. 30 lakh in cash and five kilograms of gold from his residence, as reported by PTI. The raids were conducted at several other locations. The raids has begun at about 5:30 in the morning at the bureaucrat’s official residence including at homes of his son Vivek Rao and some relatives, IT sources stated.
The Income Tax on Tuesday, December 20, had conducted a raid at his residence in Anna Nagar area of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. As per the reports, the raid was in connection with Rao’s alleged links with sand mining baron Babu Sekar Reddy. Rao was posted as the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu in November 2016. Rao also holds full additional charge of Vigilance Comissioner and Commissioner for Administrative Reforms.
