NEW DELHI, 07 July 2021: Mr Abhishek Singh, MD & CEO, Digital India Corporation (DIC); President & CEO, National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and CEO, MyGov, Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India today said, “In this digital era, the technology will decide the way things will move forward in coming years.”

Addressing the webinar ‘Digital India – It’s triumph and way forward with emerging technologies’, organized by FICCI, jointly with Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics & IT, GoI, Mr Singh said, “Since the pandemic struck, the pace at which digital adoption is taken place across the country is phenomenal, not only businesses but the government departments and common man have leveraged technology to win the fight against the pandemic.”

Talking about the success of Aarogya Setu App and CoWIN portal he added, “Today technology has enabled people to do remote working, technology allows people to work collaboratively, technology allows people to develop products and launch it even while working from anywhere. Aarogya Setu App, which is one of the largest and most efficient contact tracing apps used by the government to track and control the spread of COVID-19 was developed with active collaboration with industry, academia and governments. Similarly, CoWIN vaccination platform is now being sought by countries around the world.”

Mr Singh also highlighted the success of DigiLocker, UMANG and Direct Benefit Transfer. “DBT backed by strong foundation of Jan Dhan, Aadhar and Mobile (JAM ) allowed seamlessly transfer of fund to beneficiaries. Almost 17 lakh crores of fund across various schemes have been transferred to the direct bank accounts of beneficiaries through the DBT,” he added.

Mr Himanshu Kapania, Chairman, TED Council, FICCI and Vice Chairman, Aditya Birla Management Corporation Pvt. Ltd, said, “Congratulations on 6th year of Digital India Program – future is going to be even more exhilarating as 4th IR Technologies transform our lives and revolutionize our enterprises.”

Talking about the next phase of Digital India, Dr Lovneesh Chanana, Vice President, Government Affairs, Asia Pacific and Japan, SAP stated, “Citizen experience management, technology for sustainable growth, leveraging data as an asset, and a culture of technology with machines as co-workers may be the likely pillars of the next phase of journey towards a digitally intelligent India.”

Further talking about the huge role played by data and digital services Mr Vikram K, Senior Director – Industry Verticals, Hewlett Packard Enterprise said, “Data will play an even bigger role in decision-making processes as it does now, as we are in a data-driven hybrid world, and we have to focus on developing models which reduce the entry-level barriers for Digital Transformation.”

Mr Gaurav Agarwal, Co-Founder, 1mg who talking about Digital Adoption stated, “Without Digital Adoption the impact of COVID-19 would have been much harder on us, and digital technologies played a crucial role in the healthcare sector to fight and eventually overcome the pandemic.”

Highlighting the importance of emerging technologies Col Haridas M CEO and Co-Founder, Dataval Analytics stated, “Contributing to the $ 5 trillion economy by transforming India Digitally, emerging Technologies will play a crucial role in Inclusive Growth of the country.”

Mr Kanishka Agiwal, Co-Chair, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation, FICCI and Head – Service Lines, Public Sector, India/South Asia, Amazon Web Services, while applauding the achievements of Digital India said, “When COVID-19 pandemic struck, India was able to rapidly transform its entire business and operational model, just like any other powerful developed economy and this was because of a solid foundation created by DIGITAL INDIA.”

The session was greatly appreciated by the industry members and was attended by over 200 participants.
