Parliamentary panel to meet to discuss rising cyber crimes

New Delhi, 04th July 2023: The Indian Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance announced today that they had summoned senior executives from Google, Apple, Flipkart, Paytm, Yes Bank, Punjab National Bank, Bank of India, and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) to discuss ‘Cybersecurity and the rising incidence of cyber/white collar crimes’ at 2 p.m.

The Committee will receive oral evidence from representatives of the organisations on the subject during today’s meeting in Parliament House Annexe Extension. Senior bank executives have been requested to give detailed presentations on tackling cyber threats and improving Cybersecurity in the country.

This comes as Cybersecurity and increased cybercrime were prominent topics of discussion at a panel meeting earlier this month, where MPs grilled industry experts on numerous potential for illegal operations and frauds.

The Standing Committee on Finance Chairman is Lok Sabha MP, Jayant Sinha. The Committee has 31 members, 21 from the Lok Sabha and ten from the Rajya Sabha.
