New Delhi (India), 14th June 2023: Sir Paul McCartney has stated that a new and long-awaited Beatles recording will be released later this year, thanks to the usage of artificial intelligence (AI).

The famed musician revealed that he used cutting-edge technology to “extract” the late John Lennon’s voice from an old tape and finish a song that had been unfinished for decades.

During an interview with BBC Radio 4 Today, McCartney acknowledged his enthusiasm about the track’s completion and revealed its impending release. While he did not reveal the title of the song, people are speculating that it might be, “Now and Then,” a song written by John Lennon in 1978.

The song’s demo was included in a collection of cassettes titled “For Paul,” which Lennon had made before his tragic death in 1980. Yoko Ono, John Lennon’s widow, later gave these tapes to McCartney.

“We just finished it up, and it’ll be released this year,” he said on BBC Radio 4.

The original “Now and Then” recording was primarily caught on a boombox when Lennon sat at a piano in his New York apartment. The lyrics, which begin, “I know it’s true, it’s all because of you / And if I make it through, it’s all because of you.”

These lyrics are clearly indicative of the emotional and introspective and themes and love songs that Lennon used to write especially in the later years of his career.

McCartney noted that certain uses of AI worry him ahead of the premiere of his new book and accompanying photography show at the National Portrait Gallery.

He also cited cases in which individuals claimed to hear John Lennon singing one of his songs, only to realise that it was an AI-generated sound. However, McCartney finds it both frightening and exhilarating, he realises that it represents the future of music and is excited to see where it leads.
