Photo Exhibition: Moods, Moments and Memories of Maldives from Dr Mulay’s Lens

New Delhi (27/07/22): Seeing is believing and while visiting different places remains the best way to immerse one self in beauty or culture of that region, the next best alternative is through the photographs.

Offering the same was a photography exhibition ‘Maldives : Not just beaches’, inauguration of which was organized by Ambassador Dr. Dnyaneshwar M Mulay, IFS (Retd.) who served as India’s High Commissioner to Maldives. The inauguration ceremony was held on 25th July at Art Gallery, CSOI, Vinay Marg, Chanakya Puri, New Delhi at 5:30pm. The exhibition was being organized essentially to showcase works of art and creative photography of Dr. Mulay.

Dr. Dnyaneshwar M Mulay, IFS (Retd.), served as India’s High commissioner to Maldives between 2009-2013. He was a diplomat of the elite Indian Foreign Service (1983-2019). He had hugely explored the various aspects of many countries. He is an author and a vivid photographer with huge expertise and experience at National, Local and International level. Photos taken are when Dr. Mulay served as India’s High Commissioner to Maldives.

 

This Inaugural Ceremony was graced by the presence of high profile personalities from various walks of life . Key dignitaries were present there in the ceremony including Chief Guest MHarsh Shringla (Former Foreign Secretary of India) and Guest of Honor Hussain Niyaz (High commissioner of Maldives to India) and several other guests i.e Dr. Jagannath Patnaik (Vice Chancellor of ICFAI Sikkim) , Rinki Patnaik (USA Mrs. India Worldwide), Rajiv Jain, (Member, NHRC), Rajaram Saha, ADG, Income Tax) and better half of Dr. Mulay, Sadhna Shankar, (Principal DG Income Tax and Author) praised the mesmerizing photographs clicked by Dr. Mulay in the ceremony. The inaugural ceremony began with a ribbon cutting and lamp lighting ceremony by Chief Guest and other distinguished art lovers.

‘It’s an extra-ordinary exhibition, It illustrates many different facets which includes the in depth understanding of Maldives and its people, close relationships we have with Maldives, natural beauty’, said chief guest Harsh Shringla.

‘What we have heard about Maldives, it is just more and more beyond that’, said Dr. Jagannath Patnaik, (Vice chancellor ICFAI, Sikkim). ‘After watching all the photos here I feel nostalgic about the annual day of Maldives which Dr. Mulay has amazingly brought out through these Photos’, he added.

 

‘The photos are really mesmerizing and I can’t believe Dr. Mulay took all these pictures with his phone camera at that time’, said Rinki Patnaik (USA Mrs. India worldwide). She also mentioned some of her favourite photos named ‘No traffic Jam’ and ‘The glass become bluer’.

‘I have visited Maldives earlier but I saw the beauty part of it, I saw the beaches, the sun and sand but I didn’t see it from the perspective of Dr. Mulay, He captured the people doing their ordinary day to day activities which is superb, I wish I had that sight’, said Rajiv Jain (Member, NHRC).

 

‘I’ve never met this side of Dr. Mulay, who really looked into the different aspects of the nature of a particular nation outside our boundary of our country which resembles our natural beauty ‘, said Rajaram Saha, (ADG, Income Tax).

“His keen sense of observation led him to express himself”, I am glad after 10 years we managed to get this exhibition out here and I am really happy about that, said Sadhna Shankar, (Principal DG Income Tax and Author).

The ceremony ended with a Video Walk Through by Dr. Mulay itself of the photo exhibition explaining about the creative ideas behind those beautifully clicked pictures.
