Piyush Goyal Launches Urja Mitra App In New Delhi, Reteriates Power For All Mission

Ministry of Power, Government of India has set the challenging task of ensuring 24×7 Power For All across the country. While past two years have seen tremendous pace of work on the same, Power availability and reliability still remain a matter of concern for government as well as the power consumers.
In order to empower citizens of India, Minsitry of Power has initiated ‘Urja Mitra’ Scheme. Developed by REC Transmission Projects Company Limited, a subsidiary of M/S Rural Electrification Corporation Limited. Urja Mitra is a shining example of cooperative federalism..

Piyush Goyal, minister of Power, said that, it is a first of its kind of application which shall provide a platform for state power distribution utilities to disseminate power outage information to urban/rural consumers across India, on their fingertips, through SMS or emails.

It is a move towards Digital India and is based on the Prime Minister Modi’s principle of Pro-People Good Governance, minister added.
