New Delhi, 04th July 2023: With India hosting the SCO conference virtually, Indian PM Narendra Modi delivered a strongly worded statement and took a dig at Pakistan during his speech.
He claimed that “there must not be any double standards in combating terrorist activities” and the “bloc must not hesitate to criticise countries that support cross-border terrorism as part of state policy.”
This comes as the Pakistan Prime Minister, Shehbaaz Shariz, attended the summit along with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russia’s Vladimir Putin listening. Leaders from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Iran also joined the virtual summit hosted by India.
The Indian leader also added that there is a need for decisive action to deal with terrorism and terror financing. He also presided over the meeting and held discussions of major global concerns.
The food, fuel, and fertiliser problem, surrounded by debates, conflicts, and epidemics, is a significant challenge for all countries worldwide. Some salient issues were discussed, and PM Modi also called for coordinated efforts to address them.
Regarding the Afghanistan situation, Prime Minister Modi stated that India’s concerns and aspirations are identical to those of most SCO members.
