PM Modi inaugurates Projects worth ₹3200cr including Water Metro in Kerala

Kochi (Kerala), 25th April 2023: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated more than Rs 3,200 crore in development projects in Kerala, proclaiming that “India will develop faster” if the state advances.
PM Modi signalled the start of India’s first water metro, which will use hybrid-powered boats to connect 10 tiny islands near Kochi. In Thiruvananthapuram, he laid the cornerstone for a number of rail projects as well as a digital science park.
The first Vande Bharat Express train in Kerala, which will run between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod, was also signalled off by the Prime Minister.
Speaking to a large crowd at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Modi said that the speed and scope of development on connectivity infrastructure during the previous nine years of his administration have been extremely impressive. He added that the Union budget for this year included a proposal to spend more than 10 trillion rupees on infrastructure.
He also said, “The country is undergoing a complete transformation in the areas of public transit and logistics. We are approaching the golden age of Indian railroads.”
Modi explained that the goal is to offer Made in India solutions that meet regional infrastructure needs. He provided a variety of options to demonstrate situation-specific connectivity options, including a semi-hybrid train, a ropeway, a Ro-Ro ferry, and a Regional Rapid Transport System. He also emphasised the Made in India Vande Bharat and Metro coaches’ local roots and mentioned initiatives like urban ropeways and Metro-Lite.
The Kochi Shipyard was commended by the Prime Minister for the building of ports for the Kochi Water Metro, which he emphasised is a Made in India initiative. According to him, the Kochi Water Metro will provide intermodal connectivity between modes of transit and modern, affordable transport for those residing in nearby islets of Kochi.
The Prime Minister emphasised that improving digital and physical connectivity is the Government’s primary goal.
