PM Modi meets Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, discusses Semiconductor Manufacturing in India

USA, 22nd June 2023: On the second day of his US visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Micron President and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. It was a part of Prime Minister Modi’s planned meetings with prominent CEOs during his tour to the United States.

Micron Technology was invited by the Prime Minister to promote semiconductor production in India. He stated that India has the potential to deliver competitive advantages in several segments of the semiconductor supply chain.

After meeting with the PM, CEO Mehrotra said, “We look forward to greater opportunities in India.”

According to media sources, Mehrotra was impressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambition for India and the advances the country is making. He further stated that the two talked about a variety of topics and are looking forward to more prospects in India.

Micron Technology, headquartered in the United States, is a market leader in memory storage.

The meeting took place two days after it was reported that the Cabinet had authorised Micron’s plan to establish a testing and assembly plant in India.

Micron’s selection of India for its testing and packaging unit is a positive step forward for India’s Semiconductor Mission. Industry veterans are optimistic that, as a result of Micron’s decision, more established names would take India seriously.
