Sydney, 23/05/2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian colleague, Anthony Albanese, will attend a special community gathering today to recognise the country’s vibrant and diversified Indian population. Prime Minister Modi is in Australia as a guest of the Australian government.
He will speak to community members at the event, which will take place at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena.
The Indian Australian Diaspora Foundation (IADF), organising the event, anticipates a strong turnout.
“After nine years, the Indian-Australian community is thrilled to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” He visited Australia in 2014 and was met by a large crowd at a community gathering in Sydney,” Jay Shah, one of the IADF’s directors, said the Special Broadcasting Service, an Australian hybrid-funded public service broadcaster.
Prime Minister Modi and Minister Albanese will also hold a bilateral meeting on Wednesday.
PM Modi stated in an interview with the newspaper “The Australian” that he wants to take the relationship with Australia to the “next level,” including closer military and security ties to assist in securing an “open and free” Indo-Pacific.
