PM Modi to interact with students at National Science Foundation as a part of his state visit

USA, 21st June 2023: PM Modi to interact with the Indian and American students at the National Science Foundation along with US President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden.

This is an official part of his state visit to the United States from June 21 to 24. He is also set to visit the UN headquarters in New York, where he will also lead the International Yoga Day celebrations.

The visit also includes an address by the Prime Minister to the joint session of the US Congress on June 22. According to the White House, the prime minister’s first public engagement will be at the National Science Foundation in Alexandria, Virginia, which the First Lady will host.

Dr Sethuraman Panchanathan, an Indian American, leads the National Science Foundation. Several Indian Cabinet Ministers have also visited its headquarters in Virginia in the last year or so. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar are among the prominent leaders who have visited the institute.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal body that funds fundamental research and teaching in all non-medical science and engineering sectors. The National Institutes of Health is its medical counterpart.
