PM Modi to promote India’s soft power at UN, Will Lead One-Of-A-Kind Yoga Event in New York

New Delhi, 21st June 2023: On the occasion of the International Yoga day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished everyone via an early morning tweet today. Stating that crores of people throughout the world will be performing Yoga today with theme of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (world is one family)’.

It is the ninth year after the United Nations declared June 21 as International Day of Yoga with a resolution in 2014.

PM Modi also stated in a video message that he will join the UN leadership and the world community at the UN Headquarters on June 21 to commemorate the World Yoga Day and that the event will begin at 5 p.m. IST.

He said that approximately 180 countries will be celebrating International Yoga Day today.

PM Modi said, “When the United Nations declared 2014 as International Day of Yoga, a record number of countries participated, and it has since become a global spirit. Yoga increases such feelings, broadens our inner vision, and connects us to that consciousness that makes us feel the unity of all living beings, providing a foundation for love for all living beings.”

The Prime Minister further elucidating on World Unity said, “Through Yoga, we must erase our paradoxes, blocks, and resistances. We must set the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ as an example to the rest of the world.”

Modi noted that the International Day of Yoga was more special this year because researchers from India’s research centres in the Arctic and Antarctica would also be in attendance.

The prime minister stated that the concept of the ‘Ocean Ring of Yoga’ adds to the significance of Yoga Day because it is based on the mutual relationship between the concept of Yoga and the vastness of the ocean.
