PM Modi to visit Chandigarh for last rites of Parkash Singh Badal

New Delhi (India), April 26, 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive in Chandigarh today to pay homage to Parkash Singh Badal, the veteran politician and Akali Dal patriarch, who recently passed away. Sources have confirmed that the Prime Minister will arrive in the city at noon to pay his respects to the departed leader.

Badal, a four-time Chief Minister, had been admitted to a hospital in Mohali after experiencing breathing difficulties. He was 95 years old at the time of his passing. The Prime Minister expressed his condolences yesterday, stating that he was “extremely saddened” by the loss.

The Prime Minister went on to describe the late politician as a “colossal figure in Indian politics” who had made a significant contribution to the nation’s progress and worked tirelessly for the betterment of Punjab. Modi also expressed his personal grief at Badal’s passing, stating that he had interacted with him closely for many decades and had learned a great deal from him.

The central government has announced two days of state mourning across India as a mark of respect to the veteran politician. A government communication has stated that during the days of mourning, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all buildings where it is regularly flown, and there will be no official entertainment during this period.

Parkash Singh Badal’s death has been mourned by countless admirers, and his contributions to Indian politics will always be remembered.
