Vadnagar, 07th June 2023: PM Narendra Modi’s first school in his hometown in Mehsana’s Vadnagar, will now be developed as a model school in the region and will allow students from all over the country to visit the premises.
The model school, Prerna,’ would host two students from each district in India as part of a week-long study tour. ‘Prerna: The Vernacular School’ would act as a place for the students to learn the basics of an ‘evolved life’ and is part of a joint initiative by the Central and the Gujarat State government.
The students will visit the school in groups of 30, with the Union Culture Ministry covering transportation and lodging costs. The authorities will teach 1,500 children how to live a more advanced life throughout the year. “We intend to release the first batch this year,” stated a senior official.
Officials said that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) repaired the late nineteenth-century school, which was operational till 2018, as part of a massive reconstruction plan for Vadnagar. The school that earlier had only 8 classrooms, was renovated and now includes facilities like a cafe, orientation centre, souvenir shop and a community green space.
