POST GURMEHAR KAUR PHYSICAL THREAT TROLL  ON SOCIAL MEDIA,  MINISTRY OF WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT TO LAUNCH ‘I AM TROLLED’ PORTAL FOR WOMEN SAFETY  IN COUNTRY

THE MUCH AWAITED WOMEN PANIC BUTTON WITH ADDED FEATURE OF ‘SHOUTING APP’ TO BECOME OPERATIONAL BY MARCH END-MANEKA GANDHI

 New Delhi  March 3, 2017  Post the rape threats to Delhi University  student Gurmehar kaur on social media , the Union Ministry of Women and child development has planned to launch an online App ‘I am Trolled’ soon  for women where they are threatened with physical violence on social media.

“The app will be launched for physical violence threats and trolls  only not for just  abuses, as women are equally abusive on social media as men as it has been found”said Mrs Maneka Gandhi, Union Minister of Women and Child development while inaugurating    a day long  conclave on women’s  well-being titled “Wellness Rules-Proactive Well Being“ organised by  FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), the women business wing of national business body FICCI to mark and celebrate  the International Women’s day here today.

The much delayed ‘Women’s panic button’ with additional feature of ‘Shouting App’ will also become operational by end of this month March as most of the mobile hardware companies are working on it to add the feature. Even the old mobiles will also be able to add the feature in their existing phones . As soon as distressed  women will press the panic button the mobile phone will also activate the ‘shouting app’which will alert the nearest 10 mobile phones, where fellow citizens can come for her help before the police arrives”said Ms Gandhi.

“Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) is also planning to add 600 new One stop help centres ‘Sakhi’ in next Two years after seeing the success of first 60 set up in various parts of the country. These one stop centres help the distressed women with all help including medical, legal, police and rehabilitation. The minsitry is also working on ways to check child pornography which is on rise.”the Minister said.

“The WCD ministry will also set up more centres with call no 1098  in various parts of country starting with Bangalore based on the lines of one already set up   Gurugram (Gurgaon) ,which receives about Four lakh calls for missing children across the nation. This is equipped with online system which can trace the calling child within hours and take care  of him” the minister added.

“The ministry is going top set up “Women Entrepreneurship Council”on lines of business  bodies like FICCI and CII for women, where the government will do the hand holding and allow women to take  their own decisions and govern the body .At present almost all trade bodies in the country are male dominated “she said  

“In a bid to strengthen women entrepreneurs ,particularly from rural  parts of the country ,THE WCD ministry has tied up  with e trade firm Amazon for its online portal Mahila e Haat wherein women get platform to market their produce they make sitting at home ” she added.

” The theme for this years FLO’s conclave is Women and Community proactive wellness as  encompassing the role of women for community proactive wellness completes the trilogy of wellness of society. The Conclave jointly being organised  with Young FICCI Ladies Organisation (YFLO) and Sleepwell foundation , an NGO working for empowering women  ” said  Ms. Vinita Bimbhet, President, FICCI LAdies Organsiation, FLO speaking on the occasion 

 Proactive Community Wellness is not just about what each of us do as individuals, it is also about how, as a group of empowered and privileged women, we affect each other, and the impact that we can have together on the health of our community as  wellness is a huge aspect of a women’s life. Distinguished speakers, leaders, practitioners, motivators and role models will speak at the conclave and will take up various aspects & issues related with Wellness. They will also suggest how we, the women, can, individually, with the help of our families & Organizations and collectively as a group do something about any or all of these issues to ensure holistic wellness of society.” Ms Bimbhet  addded

  “The Wellness Conclave will help us delve deeper into the concept of proactive wellness for and by women and community. Over the course of the day, the conclave will encompass topics ranging from Ideas for Community Wellness, Holistic Wellness, and Wellness in Adversity and Art & Community Wellness .” she said .

 Ms. Trupti Gupta, Chairperson, YFLO Delhi emphasised that community wellness is an important topic that needs to be addressed by young people like us. She said, All of us need to get out of our comfort zone and work together for the betterment of our society.”

 The major highlight of the event was  sessions by eminent personalities including Ms. Dia Mirza (Film Actor & Thinker), Ms. Rashmi Malik (Secretary, Spic Macay), Ms. Deepa Malik (Motivational Speaker & Athlete), Dr. Naresh Trehan*(Chairman and Managing Director, Medanta—The Medicity, Ms. Debjani Ghosh, (V.P. Intel India, MD Intel South Asia), Mr. Anshu Gupta (Founder-‘Goonj’), Mr. Vivek  Agnihotri (Film Director & Producer), Ms. Anju Modi( Eminent Fashion Designer),Ms. Pallavi Joshi (Film & TV actor & Filmmaker), , Ms. Rene Singh (Singer & Music Composer) along with Manzil Mystics Group. Ms. Richa Anirudh (TV Anchor & RJ) will be the master of ceremony and Ms. Puja Talwar, (Journalist) will moderate a session.
