What is VYAPAM?
Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) is an organization which takes care of conducting PMT/Engineering Entrance examinations, so as to intake the aspiring medical or engineering students into various colleges and awards degrees. This institution also conducts examination on the academic basis for the recruitment of the candidates. So, this is basically the career building organization which is supposed to act transparent and responsible as it concerns the  future of the young generations in the state of MP.

What is VYAPAM Scam all about?
In the Simple layman term, this scam is all about impersonation during exams, manipulation of seating arrangements, Illegal admissions and awarding illegal degrees and all of these in huge numbers in return of huge sum of money. The officials would manipulate the seating arrangements and ensured that the “scorers” from different states sits beside the students who have paid money and excessive cheating/malpractices was allowed. This was done on large scales and the benefited officials had property worth several hundred crores. The candidates were also paid to help cheat in the exams. The ultimate sufferers were the deserving and serious students. Under this scam, the government jobs were distributed like sweets through the extreme web of corruption. In fact, the chief minister of MP has admitted of illegally recruiting 1000 posts.

How was it unveiled?
Right since 2006, there have been news of discrepancies in the examination and admission process through VYAPAM. But the scam came into full view when on 7th july 2013, police arrested some fake candidates sitting in the exam in place of others. The police came to know that there have been a big racket running since one year in the state of Madhya pradesh which illegally gave admission to medical courses.

When the accused students were questioned, they named Dr Jagadish Sagar who was deemed as the mastermind of the scam then. Between 2008 and 2013, he had illegally given admission to more than 2200 admissions in return of the big favors.

How was it investigated?
In november 2013, Madhya pradesh high court constituted SIT headed by retired judge, Chandresh Bhushan. The special Task force was formed so as to file the charge sheet under stipulated time frames. When Jagadish Sagar was enquired, he came up with stunning facts. He named the big officials including the then education minister, Laxmikant Sharma. On further enquiry, Sagar told police the below rates for different posts through VYAPAM.

Conductor in transport dept : 5 lakhs to 7 lakhs
Food Inspector : 25 lakhs to 30 lakhs
Sub-Inspector : 15-22 lakhs

Through the web of corruption, thousands of deserving students suffered and those who paid were given these jobs, thus completely ruining the education system of the state.
The education minister was arrested on 16th June 2014. He was the head of VYAPAM and all these activities were happening under his supervision. The recruitment to several other departments used to happen through the same organisation, so there is high probability that this scam has outstretched reach to other sectors as well. Mr Laxmikant is in jail currently.

Under this scam, the chairman of Aurbindo medical college, Sri Vinod Bhandari and VYAPAM controller Pankaj Trivedi, VYAPAM’s online dept’s system analyst Nitin Mahindra was arrested along with many students who were involved. On 15th April, 2015, Dhanraj Yadav, who used to be the OSD of Governor Ram Naresh Yadav was arrested for his involvement in the Teacher recruitment fraud.

There have been big names in the scam including chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan whose sister’s admission was forged, ministers whose sons and daughters got admissions through backdoor, kins of BJP and RSS leaders and lot other big names. The governor of MP has also been named in the SCAM. What has been more shocking is that in spite of so many number of arrests, there have been 48 deaths so far of those associated with this scam. The deceased ones were either part of the scam or the officers investigating it, or the reporters covering it.

Does this Scam mean only MONEY?
I sincerely hope, it was for money. But the amount of damage it has done to the society of MP is immense. The complete one generation of merit and deserving students have been ruined. The students who had studied hard to become doctors, engineers, government officers, police officers are nowhere now. Had they been got what they deserved, they would have given good education to their sons and daughters. So it is not only one generation, but multiple generation education have been devastated by some politicians. This is so far the biggest scam of the country where not only corruption exists, but the career and aspirations of the students has been washed way and off course people have been killed, whoever became threat to the real culprits. The actual culprits are still on the loose and the silence of center government speaks volume of something fishy.

Dangerous Silence:
The Prime minister Shri Narender Modi, who has lost no time so far expressing about small/large scams of other party leader is dangerously silent on this biggest scam done by his own party leaders. Exposing the true culprits of this scam may do the irreparable damage to BJP, RSS and the manufactured reputation of Mrs Modi who speaks volume but does not even do the least. Center government cannot afford this, so the role of supreme court of India becomes the only hope to light up the rays of hope for the thousands of deserving students of Madhya Pradesh and put behind bars all the corrupt and murderer leaders, no matter on what levels of authority they are sitting
