Powers Being Seized by Certain Section: Mamata Bannerjee Urges Judiciary to safeguard federal structure

West Bengal (30/10/2022): Speaking at the convocation ceremony of the West Bengal National University of Judicial Sciences (NUJS), Mamata Bannerjee urged the Indian judiciary to safeguard the federal structure of the country.
The West Bengal CM was speaking in the presence of CJI U U Lalit. Justice U U Lalit is the chancellor of the university.
West Bengal Chief Minister was present as a chief guest at the convocation ceremony, Mamata Bannerjee said, “All the democratic powers are being seized by a section of people; this might be going on for a presidential form of government.”
During the event, she also heaped praises on CJI Lalit. Referring to NUJS as “one of the most important institutions in the world”, Bannerjee also commended the current CJI for the role played by him.
