New Delhi, 19th April, 2022: In the first preliminary report of the Jahangirpuri violence that Delhi Police has submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs, they have called it a “criminal conspiracy”.
As per the report, the communities had kept stones, bricks and other weapons ready before the violence broke out, which indicates that the violence did not emerge ‘on-the-spot’.
Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana has stated that police officials have been deployed in all the violence-sensitive areas, till the situation normalises. “Not only in Jahangirpuri, but also in other places, we have deployed sufficient forces. We’ll use technology to keep an eye on things, and we’ll keep an eye on things to make sure nothing bad happens again, said Asthana.
The roads near the violence site have been barricaded by the police who have set their tents at the site. 500 police officials and 6 company forces have been deployed. Additionally, 80 tear gas gun parties and water cannons have been deployed along with drones for rooftop monitoring in critical areas, according to police.
The Union Home Minister has assured the people that perpetrators will be held accountable so that another occurrence like this does not occur.
