Top leaders of the country extended their wishes to India’s Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj as he bagged a historic silver after going down fighting against top seed Lucas Mazur of France in the men’s singles SL4 class final at the Tokyo Paralympics on Sunday.
“Congratulations to Suhas Yathiraj who gave a tough fight to world 1 and won silver medal in badminton at Paralympics. Your dedication in pursuing sports while discharging duties as a civil servant is exceptional. Best wishes for a future full of accomplishments,” the President wrote on Twitter.
The medal was also celebrated by Home Minister Amit Shah. “Congratulations to Suhas Yathiraj for winning the well deserved Silver medal in #Paralympics. India celebrates your remarkable achievement. Wish you more success in the future,” he wrote on twitter.
BJP chief JP Nadda also extended his warm greeting for the making the country proud. “Congratulations to @dmgbnagar, Suhas Yathiraj for bagging a silver medal for the country on the early morning of Sunday. He has set a new yardstick of consistency, dedication and excellence. My heartiest congratulations to him for bringing glory to India.”
Olympian Abhinav A. Bindra also lauded Suhas for exceptional performance and wrote, “Silver for Suhas Yathiraj! Exceptional performance by the IAS officer to almost outclass the world no.1 in the men’s singles badminton SL4. Exemplifies the belief of our Para athletes at the #Tokyo2020 Paralympics. Many congratulations!”
Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar too, took to twitter to laud the atheletes. “Congratulations to @Krishnanagar99 & @suhasly on winning and respectively in #badminton! Our performance this year at the #Paralympics has been nothing short of a fairytale and it is just the beginning. More power to our para athletes!”
