Priyanka Gandhi takes ‘Ladki hu Lad sakti hu’ campaign to online amid Covid spike

Lucknow, 8th Jan, 2022: After the UP Congress was forced to put a hold on physical mega-rallies, townhalls, samvads, marathons in the poll-bound state due to COVID spike, Congress general secretary, Priyanka Gandhi, on Saturday, moved the ‘Ladki hu Lad sakti hu’ campaign online.

She held a 30 minutes live virtual campaign on Facebook named as ‘Priyanka ke saath live’ in which she interacted with many people and answered questions related to the ‘Ladki hu lad skati hu’ campaign.

Explaining the meaning of the slogan ‘Ladki hu Lad sakti hu’, Gandhi said it is a collective attempt from Congress Party to empower young women & to help women acknowledge their identity.

Moreover, she said, the inspiration for the slogan ‘Ladki hu lad sakti hu’ is from the ‘Unnao rape case’ as the young victim fought for herself throughout the case & every other women of her family was also vocal for her.

When asked about what role can men play in this campaign & where does she see men in context of this movement, she said, man can change their view; they can look at women as equals and understand that women are no less then them adding that women are as strong as men and have equal rights.

She said we have begun this campaign in UP but I’m hoping for this campaign to be spread across the nation after the elections.

She asserted that ”Political parties owe a responsibility & have a duty towards women & I will not let women be ignored anymore.”

She emphasized on women empowerment with equality as the basic foundation in society through her campaign & explained what her party is trying to do to empower women through the campaign. She said, we are focusing on how women can stand on their feet & create a successful career rather then just helping them with providing money.

Furthermore, in her live campaign she also stated that we’ll continue to have such interactive live sessions where you can ask us questions & let us know your expectations from our party.
