Chandigarh, Oct 10 (PTI) Senior Congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh today said the prolonged agitation by farmers’ organisations, with no resolution in sight, only reflects the “complete political and administrative failure” of the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who “lacks political will and acumen” to solve any problem.

“The farmers’ stir has completely exposed the government that when it comes to resolving a crisis or solving any problem, it is totally incompetent and incapable of doing so”, Capt Amarinder said in a statement, while expressing grave concern over the continuation of the strike by farmers.

“That the government was struck with paralysis and administrative inertia was already too well known, the ongoing strike has only re-established and reaffirmed the public belief that this government’s being there or not hardly makes any difference to anyone”, he observed, while adding, on the one hand the farmers see no hope from this government and they are forced to prolong their agitation and on the other hand common man continues to suffer.

The former Chief Minister reminded Badal that he had been continuously warning him that the situation was getting out of control and he needed to act.

“Such serious and sensitive matters are not left to police and administrative officials”, he told Badal, while remarking, “and naturally when they are not able to deliver you try to put blame on them while trying to escape responsibility yourself”.

Capt Amarinder said Badal must directly talk to the agitating farmers.

“Instead of trying to resort deceit by using some farmer leaders whom you have rewarded with lucrative positions to sabotage and undermine their agitation you should sincerely talk to the agitating farmers directly and understand their problem to find a solution”, he said, saying, the sooner he does it the better it would be, as the situation was threatening to get out of control.
