NEW DELHI, Oct. 3—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Ajay Maken today inaugurated the renovation work of the Muftiwalan MCD Primary School, Turkman Gate Ward, Old Delhi. Shri Ajay Maken said it is a historic school which was set up in 1941, and boasts of a hoary tradition. He said the Congress party has taken the initiative for the renovation of the school by utilizing the public money in a productive manner, instead of squandering it for unproductive advertisements.
Shri Maken said the modernization of the school, being carried out at an expenditure of Rs 49 lakh, will provide the best of facilities to over 800 children studying in the school now, which will improve the standard of education. Shri Maken said education empowers people, which will bring progress and prosperity to society and the country. He said it was very essential to provide education to girl child for their uplift and empowerment, as an educated girl in a house will be a great asset to the family.
The renovation of the school is being carried out at the behest of Municipal Councillor of the Turkman Gate Ward Shri Aley Mohammed Iqbal, whose dynamic efforts have led to sanctioning of funds for the renovation of the school.
Besides Shri Ajay Maken, prominent others who addressed the function were chief spokesperson Smt. Sharmistha Mukherjee, former Municipal Councillor Shri Shoaib Iqbal, district president Mohammed Usman and Municipal Councillor Aley Mohammed Iqbal. A large number of Congress workers and local residents were also present at the function.
Chief spokesperson Smt. Sharmistha Mukherjee hailed the efforts by Shri Aley Mohammed Iqbal in taking the initiative to get Rs 49 lakh sanctioned for the renovation of the Muftiwalan MCD Primary School. She said the AAP Government, which has promised to construct 500 schools in five years, was yet to deliver on even one of its promises, though they have been in power for over one and a half years.
