New Delhi, 19 September 2022: AAP has once again landed itself in a political soup, with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann allegedly being disembarked from a flight for being too drunk, as per opposition.
However, AAP has refuted the charges and said that he was unwell.
“The minister was returning from Germany from September 11 to 18 to gather investments and strengthen economic ties. But his arrival was delayed as he was little unwell and he would catch a flight later tonight from Frankfurt and would be back,” Chander Suta Dogra, director of media communication of AAP said.
The Aam Aadmi Party has further clarified the incident stating that it is propaganda. “As planned, the Chief Minister arrived back on September 19. These reports on social media are all false. The fact that Mr. Mann effectively received some investment from his international trip has alarmed the opposition; verify with Lufthansa,” AAP spokesperson said.
However, a news website citing some unnamed eyewitness claimed that the ‘Chief Minister was heavily drunk and was not even able to stand on his feet without support.’ “Lufthansa folks deplaned him saying he is intoxicated and can’t fly as per rules,” the eyewitness further stated.
“A person resembling Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann joined the plane with the other passengers while wearing a white kurta-pajama. Four or five of them eventually fled the plane after some time,” the eyewitness added. The flight took off around 4:30 pm local time, despite being scheduled to leave at 1:40 pm.
The party further defended its minister and blamed the opposition, “Our political opponents’ dirty tricks department is propagating these rumors to discredit our CM. They are unable to comprehend how hard CM Mann is working to attract investment to Punjab. The CM is arriving back on time. He was scheduled to arrive here on Sunday evening, but he has already arrived in Delhi.”
