Most civilizations and cultures started along river banks. And in a country like India, it holds even truer, in the light of facts that here rivers are not only ecologically and socially relevant but moreover sacred too.

So, no wonder, a group of culturally aware and environmentally conscious individuals of Delhi have joined forces to bring to life one-of-its kind event – Ragas for Yamuna.

Being held on the banks of a reclaimed river Yamuna, this unique blend of nature and art will witness who’s who of Delhi come together with a resolve to make Yamuna clean and it’s floodplains green.

Lauding the initiative, Dipayan Majumdar, Chairman, Legends of India, said, “We have been promoting Indian art forms for over three decades now. Ragas for Yamuna is truly thrilling initiative which outlines the significance of reviving Yamuna and saving it for the upcoming generations. Such events draw the attention of people from all over the world towards this important cause”.

The event will be held on the morning of February, 21 and will witness performances by Siddhartha Banerjee and Ustad Fateh Ali Khan.

In real sense, this amazing initiative will bring alive the glorious memories of the golden period of Yamuna, when it banks have had the pleasure of being the stage of Krishna, who would worship the nature and river with his melodious flute recitation.

In modern time, unfortunately, even educated people show an appalling lack of understanding about rivers and their eco-systems. We just hope that such initiatives bring much needed change in the thoughts of people, who would look towards rivers with a better, refined outlook and greater reverence.
