New Delhi (India), April 1, 2023: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to address a rally in Kolar, Karnataka, on April 9, in what is seen as a move to make a political issue out of his disqualification from the Lok Sabha.

Gandhi was disqualified following his conviction in a criminal defamation case over his remarks made in Kolar in the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha election. The Congress party has also announced that Gandhi will visit Wayanad on April 11.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has predicted that the BJP will get a clear majority in the upcoming assembly elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to visit Karnataka on April 9 to inaugurate an event marking the completion of 50 years of the Tiger Project.

The assembly poll results will be declared on May 13. The Congress party has launched a “first-time youth voter” campaign, while the Aam Aadmi Party has released its second list of 60 candidates for the polls.
